Myth Writing

For the past few weeks, we have been writing myths. My myth was about the floss fluorescents, and how Tangaroa cries for his love. Here it is!

Floss Fluorescents

Once when New Zealand was first founded, The great god of  the sea Tangaroa, was feeling all alone, he wanted someone to keep him company, so he set out to find a beautiful woman and make her his wife. He called out for women in many different tribes, large and small, women came to him, but Tangaroa declined them all. He couldn’t find anyone he liked. So Tangaroa looked up to find a beautiful woman called Rangi. Tangaroa fell desperately in love with Rangi, and made her his wife.

Rangi was always close. But one day Tangaroa fell into a very bad mood when some local fishermen took to many fish for themselves. Tangaroa made the waves crash, and the sea grey. Rangi tried to calm him with a lite, cool, gentle breeze, but Tangaroa got angry with her and made the waves go up, up, up and crash into her, pushing  her up, up, so that he could not touch, talk, or hear her.

When Tangaroa calmed down, he realised what he had done.

During the day, the waves fly up to try reach her, but falls down with lost strength. During the night, his tears slowly reaches the shore, and glow a soft blue colour, that is know to be known as floss fluorescents.
